Does anyone remember why people came to this country before it was discovered by the spanish?

The reason we were taught in school contradicts all the policies and the way this country is heading

The Spanish and English explorer's came to America (which was the land of the native americans) to escape religious persecution correct?  So why are we not more inclusive and why are we currently anti-immigrant when everyone except for the native americans who were killed either by disease or slaughtered by the pilgrims are the only one's who aren't truly immigrants.  The way this country is heading with it's conservative Supreme Court and the fact that Roe v. Wade was overturned, as well as many forms of birth control and abortion have been made illegal or crimes, what do you logically think will happen if this, taking away of freedoms, is going to do to our country?  It's going to increase the population and if they bring industries over here that we outsourced for a reason without the protection of unions like what the police have, then which other country are we going to be more like than ever before?  China.  Currently the government has no checks or balances that used to guarantee a healthy, well-rounded government but it was always the wealthy land owner's that had all the power so they made the constitution to fit their needs and that was 250 years ago.  Like I've said before our government needs an upgrade badly to reduce income inequality, give back the power to the people instead of just the rich and wealthy, and reverse the citizen's united court case which made corporations able to donate unlimited amounts of money to political campaigns.  If we took all the money spent on  politics and instead invested it into our infrastructure and to help the people, as well as made every vote count instead of this majority rule, gerrymandering, and electoral college which are all just ways the only 2 competing political parties cheat to get votes, and instead have a national holiday when we vote and not let the government make it so hard for the minority community's to vote by making them stand in long lines and disqualify them for any reason possible similar to how insurance works, they look for any reason whatsoever to not have to pay out the money that buying insurance should cover.  I don't know about everyone's views but this doesn't seem much like a democracy anymore, we have the fewest choices in political candidates and parties, and it seems more corrupted than every before.  The countries that are the happiest are the ones that are smaller and have many choices in political parties like finland, and denmark for example.  They have 14 political parties to choose from which makes for healthy competition between the parties so the party with the best track record or who has the best policies wins.  I know we as a nation can become less divided and more united but due to all the misinformation out there and the pandemic making people worried and vulnerable, also made them vulnerable to being fed all this misinformation and more likely to believe it as well.  I know people are wising up to all these things and actually asking their representatives the tough questions and finding out they don't have any good answers to solve any problems.  This is why community engagement and having healthy debates and getting the full perspective on any problems is essential to solving our growing misinformation problem.  Cooperation is key, united we stand, divided we will fall....
